In 2011, the City of Surrey constructed North America’s first purpose-built covered youth park that raised the bar for youth park design, function and amenity in the City of Surrey and Metro Vancouver.

Based on the success of that park, a second covered youth park was planned for the Cloverdale district of Surrey.

  • The goal of the new project was to create a bold and contemporary facility in Cloverdale with the majority of guidance for site design, programming and use to come from public input and the stakeholder consultation. The partially covered skate park features a bowl with ledges, rails and stairs, a multi-purpose ball court and an outdoor social area.

  • Eos Lightmedia worked with the City of Surrey and the design team to develop a lighting scheme that would be safe, dynamic and fun. The lighting can be programmed to support a variety of activities - the park opened with skateboard demos, music, entertainment, and a free BBQ.
