Gros Morne Discovery Centre
Tucked into the world heritage coastal town of Woody Point, Newfoundland, is the Gros Morne Discovery Centre.
In the early days of Woody Point’s history, the town was an important deep water port. It has since become a starting point for visitors wishing to explore Newfoundland and Labrador’s Gros Morne National Park. The Gros Morne Discovery Centre is a place where people can learn about the park’s natural and human history, as well as gather information about the area’s recreational opportunities.
The discovery centre is filled with interactive exhibits, photos, objects and graphics of the flora and fauna of Gros Morne National Park. Samples of local rocks and fossils from the region are on display, allowing visitors to examine the unique geology of the park. Large illustrations, infographics, and maps of Newfoundland guide visitors through the gallery, presenting the area's natural and cultural history. The centre is also home to a gift shop and an art gallery with rotating works from artists in residence.
Eos Lightmedia worked with Reich+Petch (exhibit designers) and Expographiq (fabricators) on this project, providing the overhead and exhibit lighting design, supply, and integration. Adhering to a conservative budget, Eos was able to provide and implement high quality lighting that showcases the fantastic work done by Reich+Petch and Expographiq. The illustrations, graphics and objects exhibited in the museum are enhanced by the lighting, effectively drawing in curious visitors of all ages. This project is a great example of how Eos’s expertise in selecting and integrating the right technology can provide top quality lighting, even on a modest budget.
